If you have suffered a personal injury, you may not know where to turn. Choosing a lawyer suited to your situation can seem like a daunting task, and you may have many questions (contact a personal injury lawyer in Florida for more information). That's why we're going to cover how to choose a personal injury lawyer, so that you know the things to look for when choosing the law firm for your circumstances.

Ask about lawyers with relevant experience

Law covers a variety of sectors. Some lawyers are trained in debt litigation, for example, and know how to assist you in reclaiming money owed to you. Others might have experience specifically in cycling road accidents, focusing on claims in a geographic area notorious for generating such claims. Of course, if you wish to begin a claim for personal injury compensation that does not involve debt or a bicycle, neither of these options are going to be of any use to you. That's why it's always important to ask the question as to whether there is a lawyer on the team who is experienced in handling the kind of claim you wish to process.

You may be able to research the specific services available from a particular law firm by checking out the recent success stories and testimonials pages on their website. Alternatively, ask the question directly when you contact the firm - simply query if there are any recent success stories relevant to your claim that the law firm would like to tell you about. This can help you to choose a firm with recent wins under its belt, meaning your claim is likely to be handled by a team with the experience required to get the job done.

Ask about the size of the team in comparison to the wider law firm

Although you may feel like you are asking questions that you have no right to ask, the law firm is going to want to impress you to secure your business, and will want to answer your questions (after all, if the first firm you speak to doesn't want to answer any questions, and the second company you call is more than accommodating, your choice will have almost been made for you, and law firms know this).

Ask about the size of the department handling your claim in comparison to other departments. Why? Because if the law firm is trying to set up a new department that is only staffed by a handful of people, processing your claim may take extra time. You must be discerning over which company is likely to present you with the optimum service.

Ask about how frequently you will be contacted regarding your claim

This is a make or break question. Some law firms don't plan to keep in touch at all. Others will contact you with regular updates. If knowing where your claim is up to in the claims process is important to you, the question over frequency of updates can be an important question to ask.
