When it comes to your online sales, the language that you use matters. You probably have a clear idea of your target audience. You know how old they are, where they live, their disposable income and the level of education that they have. You build this view of your audience with research. Both direct and from your analytics provided by social media and Google. Compiled together, you have a pretty powerful tool.

So, what comes next?

Those powerful words that sway from a consideration to a purchase. The terms that take people from almost interested, to firm believers and loyal customers.

You can make any piece of copy better, improve the feel and tone of your graphics and make an impact with select words. And, the best thing is you don't need to force them into the copy. They will naturally find a place. They will be woven in with the fabric of the rest of your text.

These words will come under specific headings and types.

Urgency

If you create a sense of urgency, people will feel that they must buy your product, or sign-up to your newsletter right now. It plays on the fear of missing out. Which is why you will see great plugins that announce when someone makes a purchase in the corner of the screen. Or, a timer will appear for your purchase.

The idea that we could miss outweighs heavy. So, use these words to provoke the urgency:

●      Quick

●      NEW

●      Deadline

●      Last Chance

●      NOW

●      Limited Edition/Limited Stock

Pain Point

If your company is in the business of solving problems, then you are going to want to employ words that feed into that issue. You clients have an issue, and you should lightly play on that fear. Use these words sparingly through the content - where you sell them the solution.

●      Afraid

●      Danger

●      Alone

●      Pitfall

●      Mistake

●      Warning

●      Risk

●      Loss

●      Failure

Trust

You have perhaps 300 words to create trust between you and your next customer. What you say will either convince them or turn them away. There are millions of websites and thousands of companies offering up great deals. The difference will always be trust. Here are some words that you can use to increase the trust levels (obviously your performance following this will cement it).

You can build trust with the following terms:

●      Authentic

●      No Obligation

●      Secure

●      Proven

●      Safety

●      Backed

●      Endorsed

●      Money Back

Exclusive

If you have something exclusive to your business, or you can offer your clients something that they can't get anywhere else. Or even if you don't, you can use certain words that will make people feel special. And, typically these items will be gated with an email sign-up, or as an extra when they buy something else from you.

Their words tend to tantalize and cause intrigue:

●      Confidential

●      Private

●      Secret

●      Exclusive

●      Insider

Finally

There are some words that you need to have in any copy that you write. Remember that you are writing to someone. And to ensure that you get that across here are two words you must include.

You - Talking to someone makes it personal. Customers will feel valued and like you are communicating with them directly.

Because - They need XYZ products BECAUSE it solves an issue, it is essential for them, it gives a reason that they need what you have.

Create some A/B testing on your social media platforms and your email newsletters, and see which ones get the highest success rates. Use that to modify how you communicate going forward.

If you think we have missing any power word that can help in increase a business, please feel free to share it.
