Attorneys for Jussie Smollett say he won’t meet with police

Attorneys for "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett say there are no plans for him to meet with Chicago detectives for a follow-up interview about his reported hate crime.

Anne Kavanagh, a spokeswoman for Smollett's lawyers, said in an email to The Associated Press that his lawyers "will keep an active dialogue with Chicago police on his behalf."

Smollett reported last month that he was physically attacked by two men who allegedly yelled homophobic and racial slurs. He claimed the men poured a chemical on him and put a rope around his neck.
