The digital subscription for one year of The New York Times costs $5 per week. If readers take this, a Spotify premium that costs $120 per year is free. The digital newspaper has reportedly increased readership in the recent months. This new promotion can entice more readers to actually pay for a subscription.
Ad Age reports that the Spotify deal is away for The New York Times in working out to increase the subscription. The goal for the company is to reach 10 million digital subscribers. This deal focuses on young readers to get all access towards the digital newspaper with a price.
The New York Times chief revenue officer Meredith Kopit Levien shares that the company is focusing on young readers and is looking at strengthening the relationship. This arrangement with Spotify can help each company to reach a wider audience.
